Abstract
Updating a mature enterprise collection system GIS while business continues
Track: Implementing Enterprise GIS
Authors: Jeffrey Duke, Ryan Pulis
The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District is responsible for wastewater treatment facilities and interceptor sewers in the greater Cleveland, OH metropolitan area. NEORSD has a mature, award-winning enterprise GIS program that includes mapping of the collection system it inherited when the NEORSD was established in the 1970's.
NEORSD has recently embarked upon a field investigation program using the latest Esri GIS technologies to verify the location of its assets, improve the spatial accuracy of the GIS, and ensure that the complex system connectivity is represented consistently and correctly. Geodatabase replication is being used to synchronize edits between field crews' tablets, the consultant's working geodatabase, and NEORSD's enterprise GIS, which will remain in full production mode during the course of the project. This presentation will discuss the intricacies associated with coordinating GIS edits between multiple organizations, from the office to the field, while maintaining acceptable levels of service to all parties.
