The City of Brookfield, Mo was informed by Mo DNR to prepare an EAP (Emergency Action Plan) in order to renew the city dam permit. An estimate was received by a firm for $3,000. As this was not a budgeted item, I proceeded to prepare the document myself. I will estimate 90% of the information needed for the EAP was available from our web based GIS system. Additional input was provided by the staff whom contracts our GIS system. This system provided technical information including distance, names, parcels, etc. and relieved me of a great amount of time--and if there were a dam breach, those individuals and/or property owners on the inundation map can be contacted. The invaluable information from the GIS system provided a extremely time saving process for the City of Brookfield. The EAP was complete and the permit renewed, thanks to the service of Midland GIS.
