Abstract
Utilizing Web Applications to Disseminate GIS Data for Tribal Government
Track: Tribal/Indigenous GIS Programs

In 2007, the Chickasaw Nation created the Department of GeoSpatial Information to aid in the management of tribally owned lands. The GSI department has created a detailed geodatabase called the Chickasaw Land Information System (C-LIS). C-LIS is a valuable resource to many departments within the Chickasaw Nation. It contains all tribally-owned land, allotted land, facilities and various other feature classes.
A problem developed of how to disseminate this data to the departments that needed it. Customized web applications were the answer. The first site created was for the Realty department. It allows access to all tribal land and documents; such as warranty deed, survey, appraisal, etc. associated with that parcel. Attribute information is also available providing trust status, acres and other important details. A hyperlink to the County Assessor Web site is provided with each parcel. In total 11 Web sites have been created with more to come.
