Abstract
CAD/BIM/GIS Floorplan Integration at the University of Washington
Track: Facilities
Authors: Aaron Cheuvront
The University of Washington recently complete a project to redesign is floorplan GIS infrastructure. The goals of the project were to streamline the process of GIS translation of CAD file while at the same time improving the overall usefulness of the system. Working with Vertex3, the UW has developed a fully automated GIS translation process. This process integrates multiple technology platforms to provide building floor plans in 2D and 3D in CAD, Revit, and GIS formats. While CAD and Revit are the main editing interfaces, GIS is the primary data aggregation interface allowing us to create GIS application for all University systems with spatially related data.
