San Gabriel Valley Water Company has recently developed a hydraulic model based on the water network GIS data set developed from as-builts. The entire process of the model development and calibration heavily relied on the GIS geodatabase and its integrations with other systems such as customer service. The model has all of the mainlines in the system, and demands were allocated at meter level, owing to the detailed water network GIS with service lines and meters. The model can leverage all the links that GIS has with other systems. This paper elaborates how the water network GIS was used for the model development and maintenance, and will cater to the interests of the water agencies that are looking to develop accurate hydraulic models.
