Track: Web and Server
Authors: Sridhar Katragadda, Virginia Johnston
Supporting the city's enterprise-wide mapping needs and providing web applications that serve the public as well as internal departments is a challenge. The City of Virginia Beach used ArcGIS Server Technology, taking into consideration the changing trends of available Web APIs and technologies to meet various and sometimes competing needs. The process included working closely with the information technology department and with all participating city departments and blending the technologies to move the city's web mapping from legacy applications to current technology and provide a strong platform for the future. This topic also gives a glimpse of how the technologies and Web API choices were made and integrated into the existing operating environment and how existing resources were focused using ArcGIS Server technology to deliver maps and documents.
