Local Government Use of Story Maps Produces Exciting Results

We got into Esri's story maps because we liked them and wanted our intern to do something that might work for her and us. Story maps hit the stage with a resounding effect. They provide a new and simple way to reach users. We can use our GIS web maps with other source materials like photos to appeal to a broader audience. We already provide over 30 GIS mapping services and 15 web mapping applications to the public. We also do a variety of specialized mapping applications for different county departments. Still, people who wanted to work with us were thrilled with story maps. We have released six story maps thus far. We collaborate with the organization to create each story map. They acquire the photos, create the descriptions, and clarify the intent or use. We prepare the layout, map integration, create the location file, and deploy the application.
