Fire Hydrant Web Application
Track: Public Works
Authors: Todd Pulsifer, Keith Lisby Jr.
The City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities produces a web application to manage fire hydrants throughout the city. This tool has been implemented to provide the Columbus Fire Department and the Department of Utilities with an application that will alert both parties of fire hydrant activity. Using ArcGIS Server 10, ESRI Flex Sample Viewer, and a Work Order Management System field crews from both departments can update status and convey any repair issues that may arise. The application displays water mains, valves, and hydrants in a grid system that produces the hydrant ID's. This application will support the Columbus Fire Department in maintaining full awareness of active fire hydrants throughout the city.
