Abstract
Maintaining Real-Time Data in ArcSDE Utilizing Geoprocessing & Data Interoperability
Track: Geographic Data

In today's fast-paced business world, mapping accurate and current, or even real-time information is critical to decision-making. Challenges arise when attempting to move current data that originates from a non-spatial environment into a spatial environment such as ArcSDE. "Spatializing" the data requires that it be validated (coordinate accuracy, data inconsistencies), as any errors will be obvious when inspected visually on a map. In addition some logic needs to be executed to decide which database operation should be performed with the sync (INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE). Lastly, the data is not necessarily a one-to-one table copy when spatial entities are created. Through demonstrations, this presentation will explore how to use geoprocessing in conjunction with data interoperability technology to automatically sync ArcSDE data with newly available information and produce maps with data that is very close to real-time.
