Track: Mobile GIS

The New Mexico State Land Office is a state agency which manages 13 million acres for beneficiary institutions. Our mission is to preserve the integrity of our lands, while optimizing revenues to the trust. Primary business transactions occur in the central office, while field staff conducts on-the-ground analysis.
We needed to integrate the dynamic and growing enterprise datasets generated in the main office with the information being gathered in the field. The challenge was to get accurate, complete and timely information into and from the field, using technology that could be adopted by staff with varying degrees of technological expertise.
ArcGIS Mobile on Trimble's Yuma provided streamlined integration of data in SDE via GIS Server, in an easy to manage mobile dataset rich enough to serve as the primary field data capture and analysis tool. Enhancements to the field reporting process resulting from mobile implementation will be presented.
