Almost every county in California maintains parcel data in a data format and structure that is unique to it. In collaboration with state government the Information Center for the Environment (ICE) at the University of California, Davis has parcel boundaries and secured roll data for most of the counties in the state. Using ESRI/Safe Software's Data Interoperability Extension to build a framework for translating the parcel data into the National Spatial Data Infrastructure core parcel standard, with a select set of add on fields, and a standardization of land use coding to create a nearly statewide standardized parcel data set for use in planning efforts by State, Regional and Local Governments, institutional process review, and hazard notification.
