Mapping Sustainability: City of Fife Parks
Track: Parks, Natural Reserves, Fisheries, and Wildlife Management
Authors: Tonya Elliott
As world population continues to increase and our cities become more densely populated, parks and open spaces that serve these populations will need to become more sustainable. Parks and open spaces will serve as assets to communities, and will provide opportunities for community sustainability through education, open spaces, and nature areas. The community sustainability of health and well-being that parks provide to their citizens will be measured by cultural (museums, art, and history), economic (green energy, event revenue, and fiscal transparency), environment (providing green spaces, clean streams, and open spaces), and social (festivals, movie in the parks, and car shows). The purpose of this project is to use GIS to measure how parks provide sustainability.
