Abstract
A GIS-Centric Approach for Tracking and Reporting Major Capital Programs
Track: Transportation
Authors: Kurt Lebo
As the Illinois Tollway launched its 15-year, $12 billion Move Illinois capital program to improve regional mobility, relieve congestion, reduce pollution and link economies across the Midwest, the agency knew it required innovative ways to leverage its enterprise GIS environment and other related information systems to proactively track and report both financial and schedule progress on its 100+ capital projects.
In order to provide a mechanism to quickly visualize and ascertain program status and proactive project performance indicators, the Illinois Tollway developed and implemented the Program Performance Dashboard (PPD) for tracking, reporting and managing program cost, schedule, progress and related information.
This web-based solution, built using the ArcGIS API forJavascript, allows all users to view and report performance data from the program-level, to a corridor-level, project-level and down to a contract-level -- providing key indicators to project health in regards to cost, schedule and potential change.
