GeoReadiness - Return on Location for the Navy's Installation Enterprise
Track: Federal Applications and Enterprise Management
Authors: Ed Riegelmann, Darrell Robertson
The GeoReadiness program, led by HQ NAVFAC, and sponsored by OPNAV N46 via Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC) was established to provide, build, sustain, and advance Navy capabilities to support its shore installation management mission. GeoReadiness combines GIS with business data, providing a powerful media for visualizing problems. Spatial business intelligence is generated when existing enterprise business systems are geographically enabled. The resulting spatial BI enhances decision-making to quickly and more accurately respond to and resolve problems, thus improving shore installation management efficiency and effectiveness. In this presentation, we will provide real world examples of how GeoReadiness is improving Navy business activities, and discuss the pioneering methods used to market geospatial capabilities, discover new use cases, and measure the value of geospatial capabilities in every day work. We will also present a vision of how geospatial technologies can provide a foundation capability that informs and interconnects Navy shore installation communities.
