The Benefits of Following the Strategic Plan
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater

The District was creating and updating eleven different maps at different scales. Data was kept in a book and updated by erasing the last entries and adding new ones. Now one GIS map can show everything from the eleven maps, and can be used by Engineering, Finance, Field Operations, and Customer Service.
In addition to better maps, the District also implemented infraMAP and Cityworks to leverage the power of GIS. This paper will discuss the road map laid out by the strategic plan, and each phase of the implementation (Data Conversion, Field Maintenance, and Work Order implementation). The approach, issues encountered, and lessons learned will be discussed.
