The Codelco-Chile, El Teniente copper underground mine located in central Chile has implemented a successful Arc Gis 10 platform to resolve different topics concerning environmental, territorial, land use, community, logistics and networking issues.
It has become a critical matter to manage huge amounts of information generated within the company to convert it to useful knowledge about how a big mine and its activities and projects affects the surroundings.
ArcGis infrastructure: ArcGis Server, customized desktops and webmapping has been used as our company for example works hand to hand with planning authorities in order to influence an ongoing modification of the interregional regulation plan, also the use of internal workforce information (address, occupation etc.) to asses the social and economic impact where GIS tools has been effective to show patterns.
Our data model and GIS architecture is being used as a model to scale a Corporative GIS within the company.
