Abstract
Seabed Route Design using GIS
Track: Pipeline and Gas Utilities
Authors: Christine Larsen
New platforms and templates are installed on the seabed every year. Connecting these installations are cables and pipelines. Finding optimum routes for these require analysis, taking into account seabed topography, pipeline bend radius, lay tolerances and various other parameters.
When optimum routes have been identified, alignment charts for these routes need to be created containing both a chart, a bathymetrical depth profile along the route and a data table with cable or pipeline data along with KP, heading and coordinates for every Transition Point along the route.
This presentation covers the process from raw survey data to finished product using GIS.
Software used: ArcGIS Desktop, Spatial Analyst, ArcGIS Server
