Abstract
Integrating DIRSIG and ArcGIS for the Simulating Remote Sensing Observables.
Track: Imagery
Authors: Rolando Raqueño
A prototype system combining DIRSIG and ArcGIS has been implemented through the Model Builder API providing an iterative system for an analyst to interactively browse/explore a time-enabled collection of imagery (simulated and real). A case study of a co-generation power plant highlights the advantages and challenges for implementing such as system particularly where multi-modal data sets are simulated (e.g. hyperspectral, LIDAR, thermal). The choice of using ArcGIS 10.1 was a logical one due to its recently enhanced image handling capability, the existing 3D analysis tools and ongoing integration of CityEngine. Lastly, the emerging video processing capabilities of ArcGIS dovetails into the current video simulation capabilities of DIRSIG for persistent aerial surveillance scenarios. We hope that his presentation will start a dialog with the key engineering groups in order to suggest requirements while the implementation of several of these modules are still in their early stages.
