Maps made easy
There are many types of maps that meteorologist's use. Rainfall, Pressure, temperature, dew point temperature, and wind maps are some of the most important and easily understood maps. Analysing these atmospheric variables is the primary focus in South African weather service where in GIS is been used to draw all those maps and to analyse the data from the stations network.
Weather information is important to the public and the world, weather information needs the simple and easily understandable way in which the public will be able to understand without detailed explanation
Historical rainfall maps
The series of rainfall maps which shows the rainfall departures from normal. The maps also indicate the assessment of monthly rainfall on the basis of long term annual rainfall.
Drought index maps
The South African Weather Service drought map provides a summary of drought conditions across the South Africa.
