The NATO CI Agency (NCIA) GeoMetOC Group provides NATO commands with Geospatial Support in various areas, such as, but not limited to, concept development, geospatial data dissemination, map production, image processing, cartography and training at military HQs in NATO theatres. As part of the operational support to NATO operations in Kosovo (KFOR), NCIA produced a road network layer covering all country based on aerial imagery (40cm resolution). Based on ESRI tools and making use of Python language, NCIA developed a production workflow fully integrated with quality assurance processes which respects not only NATO standards and KFOR specific requirements but also ISO data quality elements like positional accuracy, logical consistency, thematic accuracy and data completeness.
This paper describes the different steps for the definition of the most appropriate methodology to achieve a seamless integration of the quality assurance procedures with the production workflow established for the execution of the project.
