Abstract
Lessons Learned: North Dakota Statewide 9-1-1 Basemap Project
Track: Computer-Aided Dispatch and 911
Authors: Kathy Liljequist, Jon Tonneson
In 2010 North Dakota began a statewide initiative to develop new road centerline and address point data.
This project would prepare North Dakota and its Public Service Answering Points for Next Generation 9-1-1 and create a seamless 9-1-1 basemap that could be utilized in many different applications. North Dakota took a unique approach by developing the GIS data from aerial photography the NDDOT had collected, processed and orthorectified themselves.
This project had its share of bumps in the road. Hear about the lessons learned of a Statewide Next Generation 9-1-1 GIS data development project.
Topics discussed will include: Data Collection, Data Creation, Development of a Data Maintenance Plan, Project Management, Next Generation 9-1-1 and Aerial Photography.
