Abstract
Moving Your Organization to the Local Government Information Model
Track: State and Local Government
Authors: Leon Scott
The GIS Division has adopted the Local Government Information Model for production and maintenance of its GIS data. By leveraging the data model and its supported applications, the GIS Division has been able to implement many new applications and services that would have been otherwise beyond current staffing capabilities.
As we migrated to the Local Government Information Model, we also considered existing business processes. As a result, we are able use applications supported by the model, as well as participate in the Community Maps program with very little effort. At the same time, we continue to support public safety, infrastructure and other town activities within the model. We also have expanded on the model to support additional field collection activities. New workflows within the GIS Division have been created and continue to evolve to support the maintenance of our GIS in the model.
