ARCGIS analysis For Maintenance Costs, Accessibility Evaluation of Roads, Kenya

Kenya, in Africa with warm and humid climate located along the Indian Ocean, by analysis which influences roads conditions, maintenance costs at national and district level and accessibility of the population to road transports. Kenya has the problem of re-construction of available roads because of lack of governmental responsibility for road maintenance, climatic conditions, as tropical influences, vehicle conditions and corruption. Data costs for road maintenance, from as early as 2003 were used. Topography and precipitation were included to integrate extreme scenarios and intersection with railways and watercourses, as these particular situations leads to very specific needs. Road usage variation was considered, including the required frequency of maintenance operations such as high regional and national transport corridors economic importance of Kenya. Unsuitable conditions of road network-poor state acts as barrier for economic development. Insufficient access to rural areas-only 30% of the road network serves 50% of population.
