Abstract
TAP IN – Exploring US Army Training Resources across Europe
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Authors: Kevin Knapp, James Batcheller
TAP IN is the US Army Europe’s new map-driven training resource and scheduling explorer, developed and maintained by the Training Support Activity Europe (TSAE) Directorate in Grafenwoehr, Germany. Leveraging the existing infrastructure of the Sustainable Range Program’s (SRP) Army Range Mapper (ARM) ArcGIS Server platform, TAP IN allows users to search training support facility locations, view facility-specific information, download products (i.e. SOPs, operating handbooks, maps, etc.), and query real-time and future scheduling data for TSAE training facilities across Europe. This presentation will describe the architecture of TAP IN, the development process and challenges encountered in standing up a platform designed to integrate and deliver training-relevant content from multiple sources while remaining scalable, reliable and user-friendly.
