Since 2001, US Army Europe's Sustainable Range Program (USAREUR SRP) has sought to leverage web technology to disseminate geospatial information to support training on live fire ranges and training lands. From origins as a rudimentary, out of the box viewer MrSID Viewer through successive applications built upon evolving Esri technologies, USAREUR SRP now delivers two web applications based upon ArcGIS Server 10.1: the Army Range Mapper (ARM) geospatial mapping and products platform, and TAP IN, a map-driven training orientation, resource and scheduling explorer.
This presentation will elaborate key lessons learned during the evolution of USAREUR SRP web mapping platforms, some of the issues faced and outline what the Program's future strategy for data dissemination may entail.
