Abstract
Web Based Application for GIS Database Management at WVDEP-AML
Track: Mining and Geosciences
Authors: Bernardo Garcia
During the last year, the WVDEP - AML program implemented a GIS enterprise geodatabase for managing the Abandoned Mine Lands Inventory in the State of West Virginia; this database evolved from a 7.5' quadrangle system inventory implemented in ACAD. This change brought to light technical issues, such as the quality and accuracy of the data currently available in the inventory and the maintenance and update of the GIS geodatabase from now on.
This presentation seeks to show people how the AML program managed these aspects and developed both, criteria for updating our particular datasets and a web based application that is currently being tested. Thus, allowing users to easily collect meaningful field data and accomplish complex database entry and editing without even noticing it.
