Flood Map Desktop (FMD) is an extension to ESRI's ArcMap software. FMD was developed as a solution to produce consistent floodplain maps and data for FEMA map production contractors, and is the only publically available tool in this field. FMD9 was built to the 2003 Guidelines and Specifications standard defined by FEMA. In 2011(2012) FEMA's regulatory map and GIS database requirements were completely overhauled, thus requiring FMD to undergo a significant update, creating FMD10. The software is produced and maintained by Atkins, with Stantec as an FMD customer, they have helped test and use the software to produce the nation's first data and maps in this new FEMA format. This presentation will illustrate how FMD allowed Stantec to successfully produce their data and maps using the FMD extension within ArcMap.
