Abstract
H Canyon Scroll Management Tool
Track: Facilities
Authors: dave isiminger
HCSMT is used to manage the configuration of process equipment in the 221-H facility. The tool tracks the location,
status and configuration of: 227,151 sq. ft. process space, 90,121 linear feet pipe and 137 tanks pumps & pieces of
equipment. All in areas inaccessible to personnel.
The 221-H facility was constructed in the early 1950s. Before HCSMT, assets were managed using a 29 foot long drawing
called the 'Scroll'. Operators used grease pencils, colored tape and white out to update it. Today a web based GIS map is
used to manage and share critical data. Personnel have access to facility mapping displays and information from
anywhere.
A centralized database and Service Based Architecture (SOA) improves efficiency by broadly distributing data access.
With the old "Scroll", the only point of data access was the facility control room. Personnel can access data using HCSMT
from their work locations via a web browser.
