Searching for the perfect Web map- Does yours measure up?

Web-based GIS viewers are becoming ubiquitous as the technology becomes simpler and increasingly accessible to small organizations and lay people. In a way this evolution parallels the emergence of the Web itself in once critical sense. What defines a *good* web viewer? Is your viewer meeting the needs of your users? Is your viewer intuitive or does it require a complex training program? Is it bogged down with so much stuff that it's no good to anyone? This discussion explores the evolution of the Navy GeoReadiness Explorer - an enterprise level Flex based viewer - as it continues to evolve into an essential corporate tool. Lessons learned, paths not taken and the way forward will also be discussed, ideally for the benefit of the wider Web GIS community.
