Abstract
Enterprise GIS Evolution: Migrating a Mature GIS to ArcGIS Server
Track: Implementing Enterprise GIS
Authors: Franklin Fisher, Ryan Miller
This presentation will detail the efforts in migrating an enterprise GIS from an ArcGIS Desktop and ArcIMS environment to the ArcGIS Server environment. Waterford Township had in place an integrated solution that focused on GIS as the core application that connects departments and allows the departments to share content and processes efficiently. This system had evolved over time to integrate with Asset Maintenance Management, Enterprise Content Management, Workflow applications, and several other systems.
The discussion will detail how the new ArcGIS Server platform allowed for rapid applications deployment for various initiatives, such as an internally developed public safety application. The ArcGIS server environment presents an opportunity for third party applications to consume GIS services directly and this presentation will detail how these applications provide a framework for Waterford Township to develop more targeted applications for the various departments in the organization, thereby continuing to grow the enterprise GIS.
