Abandoned mine presents not only the environmental problems including land subsidence and acid mine drainage, but the economic depression issues where promotion policies are severely required. To build up the stimulus measures systemically, human resources and attractions must be surveyed based on location and assessed with objective indices, which GIS can serve as a powerful management tool. The data collected in the field can be easily saved, managed and analyzed with infrastructure maps such as roads and population information simultaneously on mobile devices empowered by ArcGIS. Local centrality of each candidate area is calculated with network analysis tools in ArcGIS to estimate the most suitable site to be improved. Potential resources maps also can be overlaid and analyzed to draw the optimal development plans with a real-time decision making support tool.
