Abstract
Creating a database suitable for multimodal route planning.
Track: Transportation
Authors: Thomas Norlin
The Swedish Transport Administration was formed in April 2010 when the Road and the Railway administrations joined forces together. Intermodal planning has been in focus from the very beginning and now the Information department of the STA has a challenge of creating an intermodal database based on the present road database and the railway database which both use different data models. A driving force for this work has been the Inspire directive where intermodality is defined in the Transportation theme through the network connections.
During the spring an early version of the intermodal database was created and now a national register is being designed which will hold intermodal connections between roads, railways, seaways and airways. The register will also be populated with bus stops to facilitate multimodal travel planning according to the coming ITS directive.
Route planning on the Inspire dataset will demonstrated during the presentation.
