The Public Works Division at Carver County, MN is leading the way in utilizing ArcGIS Online to change business processes by becoming more mobile in the field. The division is utilizing mobile devices such as iPads and iPhones to eliminate paper workflows, update asset data, visualize data in the field, and manage contractors work. These new workflows are all built upon the GIS mapping tools available in ArcGIS Online. The ability to quickly deploy web maps has created a shift in the way Public Works is managing and utilizing GIS data.
This paper will discuss how county staff is utilizing the ArcGIS app from Apple's AppStore, connecting to web maps produced within the county's ArcGIS Online Subscription site, and how staff is accessing secured GIS data hosted on the county's ArcGIS Server. Successful implementation examples will be discussed, outlining the cost savings ArcGIS Online has provided Carver County
