In an effort to achieve a 20 percent command-wide footprint reduction by 2020, Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) conducted Energy, Condition, and Optimization (ECO) assessments for seven major installationsEnergy efficiency, condition, and space use were analyzed by facility, identifying renovation, consolidation, and demolition projects that would assist PACAF in achieving its goals. As part of this analysis, Parsons developed an in-house application utilizing GIS, Microsoft Access and VBA. This application greatly streamlined and enhanced the facility planning process, by automating parts of the development, summarization, and reporting of field-collected facility use survey (FUS) data in a standardized report that automatically inserts site pictures from serially-named picture files. Discussion for this presentation will include the automation of conversion of CAD floor plans to GIS format, as well as the automated summarization and reporting of the GIS data via an Access database.
