GIS in rural road network planning in reservoir area

As water impounding in Reservoir, facilities such as road are cut off, while new immigrants' residential area need connection with outside world. This article wants to explore how GIS can be used in rural road network planning and rebuilding. We classify the areas as must-pass-object, must-avoid-object and pass-or-avoid object, decide the original direction of road by setting the furthest residential and the county town as starting point and ending point. Then iterate the road by adding objects one by one. Cost and benefit people are set as index to decide direction for each object. Besides, topography, built road and roadbed are taken into consideration.
