The University of Massachusetts, Amherst campus is in the process of integrating architectural floor plans, space, campus data and planning methodologies and disaster mitigation actions into the ESRI GIS framework. GIS is the common denominator of many diverse systems employed at UMass Amherst. Development of visualization of space, organization and planning scenarios utilize 3D Studio Max, CityEngine and tools within ARC GIS 10.1. The Amherst campus is in the process of developing 3D campus models. Current development incorporates 3D Studio Max, REVIT and CityEngine tied together by FME. 3D development process consists of the following: • Building shell • 3D walls, doors and floor slabs (exclusion of exterior walls) • 2D - 3D visualization of floor space and organization usage this presentation will illustrate some of the success and failures in the incorporation many of these unique tools.
