Abstract
Interactive data visualisations using arcgis server and the amazon cloud
Track: Transportation
Authors: Ben Cooper-Woolley
This presentation will highlight the ways in which web based interactive data visualisations have helped communicate a vast amount of transport data to a broad range of users across New South Wales, Australia.
The Bureau of Transport Statistics, a division of Transport for NSW, in collaboration with Arup have utilised the power of arcgis server and amazon cloud services including EC2, S3 and cloudfront to enable users quick, easy and engaging access to current and historic transport data in a visual way.
This innovative project provides a graphical front end to a range of datasets previously only available in spreadsheet and hard copy map format. This set of visualisations has changed the way transport data is accessed and interacted with across NSW and will showcase to users examples of how GIS data and tools can be used in non-traditional ways to power interactive visualisations.
