Abstract
A Multi-Purpose Geospatial Hydrography Project For The Spokane Tribe
Track: Water Resources
Authors: Kenneth Munnell
The Spokane Tribe of Indians is responsible for its stream basin's mapping, monitoring, water quality analysis, hydrography and hydrology. It still needs to meet governmental standards and regulations for its lands in and around Spokane, Washington. This pilot program, with the use of Arc Hydro, ESRI geodatabase, Python and mobility applications, created a complex and comprehensive GIS package. It consolidated the various data sources used by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and made them compatible with other national, state and local data models. This GIS supports vector and raster formats and files, integrated LIDAR data, various types of imagery, and is simple to maintain and used by non-GIS persons. It also allows the user to incorporate water quality analysis data, fish counts, and field bank conditions, and it allows for updates when necessary.
