Track: Water Resources

Abstract: The TMDL database was created for the Virginia DEQ (Department of Environmental Quality) water division to allow quick access to important qualitative, quantitative, and spatial data relevant to impaired watersheds and the causes of these impairments. The backbone of the database is the TMDL watershed feature class, this layer gives every TMDL impairment in the state a polygon representing all area that directly drains into the waterway of concern. These polygons are used for data querying, allowing efficient data retrieval, display, and analysis. The overall structure of the database and its corresponding models and .mxds gives the user many research topics and analysis options.
