Abstract
AIRPortal: A Gateway of Geospatial Information for Maryland Aviation Administration
Track: Transportation
Authors: Jeff Roberts, PMP
The Maryland Aviation Administration's (MAA) Airport Information Retrieval Portal (AIRPortal) is a secure portal through which users can access data and applications that facilitate critical MAA business functions. The objectives of AIRPortal are to facilitate data sharing and collaboration and to add efficiency, accuracy, and traceability to MAA business processes through an effective application of technology. Recognizing the power of GIS as a platform for visualizing and interacting with airport assets, MAA has sought to infuse AIRPortal with geospatial capabilities through innovative uses of ArcGIS technology. This includes the AIRPortal Enterprise GIS framework that provides users with a means to discover GIS content and tools that are organized around specific airport functions and also the ability to combine content create intelligent GIS maps. Specific examples include an ArcGIS Server-based aircraft parking management solution and a workflow driven application for managing revisions to the signage and markings on the airfield.
