Communication of building simulation results can be as important as obtaining the results itself. This paper presents a novel approach to urban scale energy information modeling that integrates 24x7 energy demand data and the interactive platform which has been developed using GIS to provide multi-dimensional visualization of the complex relational data.
The GIS platform maps and displays building energy data which contains: annual energy consumption, peak heating and cooling load demands, energy use intensities and selectable views of energy consumption at various time scales and different disaggregated end-use profiles according to building types. This GIS interactive platform is designed to work in conjunction with the web-based GIS where the energy simulation data is available to anyone providing a common and consistent IT platform. The GIS platform is designed to facilitate the decision making process towards an integrated sustainable urban development.
