Abstract
Finding Survey Documents Using Web Based Mapping Applications
Track: Surveying
Authors: Stuart Sanders
The Texas General Land Office (GLO) houses thousands of survey documents that are scanned and available to the public. These documents range from original land script files from the Republic of Texas to current survey documents used by Licensed Surveyors. The GLO needed a mechanism that could allow a user to visualize the extent of a document and be able to download a pdf or tiff. The GLO utilized ESRI's products to create geodatabases and develop web based mapping applications that allow a user to perform the needs of visualizing the extent and accessing a digital copy of the document. By using ESRI's suite of mapping products, the GLO has created a product that saves our customers hours of work. Government Agencies or Entities that need an efficient and easy way to deliver material to the public would benefit from this method.
