The objective of this paper is to create a design optimization process for pedestrian wayfinding signage systems in Tehran, Iran. "AxWoman 6", a "space syntax" extension to ArcGIS 10, is used to analyze pedestrian flows within the design area. The outcomes from this geospatial analysis are used with "line density" function to create a model of where decision-making locations are more likely to occur for pedestrians. Land use analysis is then used to create a hierarchical categorization of area destination points. The results from these analyses indicate optimum locations for signage installation. This project demonstrates the creative utilization of geospatial analysis to optimize how pedestrian orient themselves in physical space and navigate from place to place.
