USGS and the Census Bureau are aligning efforts to streamline the exchange of roads data. USGS's The National Map is a suite of products and services to provide geospatial data to the Nation. TIGER roads are extracted from the Census Bureau's MAF/TIGER database and are available to the public for free. TIGER roads have been an essential part of The National Map since its inception. Recent enhancements to TIGER for The National Map include more spatially accurate road features, better alignment of roads with imagery, and increased participation from partners. With a renewed focus on quality, we plan to strengthen TIGER's role as a major component of The National Map. If successful, TIGER will become the exclusive source for roads information in The National Map. USGS and the Census Bureau are working together to assure that their mapping efforts are mutually beneficial, efficient, and deliver value to the American public.
