Abstract
Challenges of creating Robust GeoProcessing Service for Web Based Clients.
Track: Analysis
Authors: Edward Copeland
Geoprocessing tools provide powerful and easy to use processes to analyze geospatial data within the desktop. However taking a geoprocessing tool to a geoprocessing service for a Web Application client produces many unique challenges. ESRI's 3D Analyst tools for the desktop provides a user with many custom options for analysis, our challenge was to allow these same tools and options to be used by a web client. This presentation will explain how a desktop tool went from the conception stage to a full-fledged web based geoprocess service. In doing so we will explain the many challenges presented during the production presented by ESRI software and Java script, and how we overcame them. In the end we will show how the geoprocessing service inputs are received from the web client and how the analysis outputs are delivered back to the client in a manner that is intuitive and useful.
