The AIDS Education and Training Center for HIV Care in Minority Communities seeks to expand HIV/AIDS care and treatment within highly impacted communities in the United States. The center utilized Esri software to map community health center data for targeting of new sites during the recruitment process. The geo-spatial analysis incorporated the Enhanced Comprehensive HIV Prevention Planning and Implementation for Metropolitan Statistical Areas most affected by HIV/AIDS. The target mapping was successful for locating specific areas highly impacted by HIV, as well as those communities with minority communities. It provided baseline measures for sites and assessment data on resources in the surrounding areas. Incorporating multiple datasets allowed program recruitment to focus on high areas of need. This targeting aligns with the three primary goals of the United States National HIV/AIDS Strategy. Furthermore, it allows for spatial analysis and visualization by geography in order to inform multiple policy and program-related stakeholders.
