Abstract
Using GIS for Mobile Asset Tracking and Analysis
Track: Mobile GIS

Learn how The City of Calgary's Common Fleet Operations System (CFOS) program is using Esri's GIS platform integrated with Clevest's Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) solution to obtain accurate, GPS-based information for better management of their day-to-day operations in the field. This integrated solution is broadly applicable and scalable across multiple segments of city services including water, road, waste and recycling.
In addition, you'll learn about CFOS' plans to expand the AVL solution and integrate additional components, including Esri-based routing functionality. Routing will consider The City's asset infrastructure and road network (e.g., speed limits, one-way streets, buildings, geographic obstacles, construction) in calculating travels times and directions. By minimizing travel time, The City plans to improve overall responsiveness, decrease fuel costs, reduce wear and tear on vehicles, and lower the operational and customer service-related costs of inefficient or missed service delivery.
