Abstract
GIS Data and Project Sharing - US Army Europe
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Authors: Andrew Clarke
The US Army Europe Sustainable Range Program (SRP) is responsible for developing and maintaining geo-spatial data for over 180 US and host nation training areas across Europe. This data provides the basis for a range of GIS information products, produced using ESRI ArcGIS, which are available to military units to support planning and execution of training exercises. By centralizing data within a multiuser geodatabase system, and sharing ArcMap project files (MXD) across a network via Map Packages (MPK) and Layer Packages (LPK), the GIS team have improved efficiency of map production and empowered more GIS users with access to this data. This briefing describes the multiuser geodatabase architecture, and the workflow procedures in place for sharing GIS data and projects across a network.
