Abstract
Using Spatial Data to Estimate Private Property I/I Reduction
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater
Authors: Jaime Parson
The Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) has embarked on a large-scale private property Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) abatement program for a region covering 13 cities and counties. This requires estimating the amount of potential I/I reduction from private versus public sanitary sewer. ESRI tools have been invaluable to perform spatial queries, frequency analysis, model builder, the data interoperability extension to bring several localities data together, and ArcGIS Server along with ArcGIS Online to collect field data. It took an entire suite of ESRI tools to estimate the amount of I/I and the potential costs. This project helps set the baseline for budgeting necessary rehab actions aiming to effectively manage wastewater treatment costs for the entire region.
