Abstract
SCADA Data - Live on Your Web Map
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater
Authors: Russ Coffey, Jake Matthys
Operational (real-time), system-level information such as current water storage levels, pump activity, and well output has typically been disconnected from enterprise GIS systems. The Las Vegas Valley Water District has combined real-time access to SCADA information with spatially accurate GIS data to enable a variety of web-based applications. These applications utilize SCADA information and allow users to answer system-level questions on a web map without having to consult a SCADA screen. This presentation will identify the components of our GIS/SCADA integration which includes a SCADA data historian, VB.NET and Web Service interface to the historian, feature-level relationships between GIS features and SCADA tags, and a user interface powered by ArcGIS Server and Silverlight. We will also highlight the benefits of adding a spatial component to SCADA data as well as the application flexibility that is provided by leveraging SCADA data via a web service.
